I have a friend, a poet, he has his own white rectangles where he fits his words. We talked about our canvas and I asked myself: How do you photograph poetry?
Weeks passed by. I had struggled with the idea, fought it, returned to it until the moment I noticed the paper the poem was written on it and the above image hurdled itself inside the borders, I needed a metaphor, I chose the circle, the only form we run from and though we see the sun every day we need to place it in a rectangular container to be able to understand, I needed the clouds and the sky assorted with the joy of childhood. I picked up my daughter's rubber ball, I had talked for hours with the light and created this image. It is a poem; to photograph a poem you must first turn that photo into poetry, be sure not to be a pleonasm.
It's easy to photograph poetry, be friend with your lights, camera and view, treat them well and they will repay you with great joy in putting your visions on paper.
Love what you do and the depth of it will seem much closer and friendly.
Yours,
Ovidiu
